The National Cartoonists Society is starting it’s annual call for entries for consideration for their NCS Divisional Awards recognizing excellence in professional cartooning. As always, you DO NOT have to be a member of the NCS to have your work considered for a divisional award… all that is required is that the work be eligible as detailed below.

Earlier this week, I asked a question: “How do you — as a user, not as a creator — feel about being invited to Like someone’s Page on Facebook?” The answers to my unscientific poll were split practically down the middle, with the majority (“No”) edging out in the end.

Here’s another useful Facebook tip that had been flying under my radar: You can highlight posts by making their photo/video element span two columns on your page (instead of one).

Q: Of the places you mention in your book Webcomics Handbook, which is the best place to be hosted and would it be bad to post a comic on all 5 places?

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I’m really lost and am spinning my wheels on the issue of Free Hosting and where it should be or should I strike out on my own someplace somehow. Although I’m not good with computers so Free Hosting is pretty much my only choice.

In the Private Forum, a member asked the following:
If you’ve been following a webcomic and you don’t like the direction it is taking and eventually it gets to the point where you’re not enjoying it and decide to stop reading it, as a good fan should you politely just forget the comic exists or should you tell the creator why you have decided to stop following his/her’s work?

I remember a comedian doing a bit on people who “like” their own posts on Facebook. He said it was the equivalent of that guy at a party who ended every one of his stories by saying, “isn’t that the best thing you ever heard?”

It’s time to get back into the Hot Seat critiques. Let’s start of with a popular one: The Hitch It / Ditch It. I’ll go to your site and list one thing I think you’re doing great and one thing I think could stand some improvement. Then I’ll open up the conversation to the group at large.
If I’ve recently done a Hitch/Ditch review of your work, please sit this one out.
And if you’d like your work critiqued, please participate in the critiques of other peoples’ work.
Want to participate? Give me your name, comic name, and URL in the Comments below.
