Taxpayers can visit IRS.gov for quick access to helpful tax information and tools that can help them with their taxes. Here are some things taxpayers can do when they visit IRS.gov:
The IRS reminds taxpayers that they should keep copies of their prior-year tax returns for at least three years. Taxpayers using a software product for the first time may need their adjusted gross income amount from their 2016 tax return to file electronically. Taxpayers can learn more about how to verify their identity and electronically sign tax returns at Validating Your Electronically Filed Tax Return.
We’re joined by webcomics OG Danielle Corsetto. She shares her unique perspective on Patreon, and she has some advice for last week’s question about choosing the best comic convention — TCAF! Her strategy to implement Kickstarter in the process is one you’ll want to hear. Plus, Dave Kellett asks if he should delete his Facebook account. And, finally both Danielle and Brad Guigar discuss ending a long-running webcomic.
BUT FIRST… Dave and his wife book a hotel room for an anniversary celebration, and when the front desk sends up complimentary wine and chocolate-dipped strawberries, it gives him an idea — one that involves his ComicLab co-host!
Within moments of launching your Kickstarter campaign, you will become inundated with spam. Marketers, third-party facilitators, printers… they all want to talk to you. But perhaps the most cringeworthy and pathetic of all of these is the request for a pledge swap.

During the recent Patreon on Tour conference in New York city, a discussion arose about promoting Patreon at personal appearances. It was tough, one creator complained, because setting up a laptop to process pledges was cumbersome — and expensive. And, it didn’t always work so well.
“Why are you bringing a computer to a show when literally every one of the attendees is walking around with their own in their pocket?” replied another creator.
Why, indeed?
Let’s talk about two ways to convert Patreon pledges at comic conventions and other personal appearances…

On the newest Surviving Creativity podcast, we talk about the Patreon On Tour conference I attended last week. We drill deep on some great data about using Patreon more effectively — and share a few exciting announcements! PLUS… Match Game!!!
During the Patreon On Tour conference in New York City, representatives shared some data that they had been gathered showing best practices and upcoming features. They were kind enough to allow me to share the slideshow that accompanied that presentation with you here.
I’ll be doing posts on several of these point in the coming days.
Meanwhile, if you’re near Austin, Seattle, LA or Chicago, I strongly encourage you to attend this conference when it’s in your area.

As reported here earlier, after Reed Expo bought the Harvey Awards (without having, it seems, any plans to actually do anything with the property), Baltimore Comic Con announced the launch of the Ringo Awards (honoring Mike Wieringo, a well-known Marvel/DC artist who died in 2007).
And they are accepting nominations for their second annual awards.
I’ll share information on the ‘Ringo Awards nomination process below. And I’ll ask a rather troubling question: Have the Harvey Awards officially died?

Brad Guigar went to the Patreon On Tour conference in NYC, and he brought back tons of useful advice from the crowdfunding giant. Learn how to get more backers and make more money. Then, he and co-host Dave Kellett move on to tackle writer’s block! What can you do to kickstart creativity? They share some useable strategies that apply to several situations. Finally — which awards are most valuable for the average webcartoonist? Is it the Eisners? The Harveys? The NCS Division Awards? The Ignatz?
BUT FIRST — Brad’s wife is encouraging him to lose weight, and the reason why has Dave going into a full-on blush.
