Hussian School of Art — Summer Workshops

PrintAs you may know, I’ve started teaching Arts Entrepreneurship at the Hussian School of Art, in Philadelphia’s historic Bourse building. Well, I’ve enjoyed it so much — and it’s worked as a way for me to further the kinds of things I do at this site and in my books — that I’ve approached them about letting me teach a sequential art class. They’re as excited about the idea as I am. As we hammer out the details on that, there are a few things that I’d like to know from the members of this site.

Two-day workshop

If you are (or know) a high-school or university undergraduate in the Philadelphia area, I will be teaching a two-day Comics workshop this summer through Hussian. It will take place July 14-15 at the Bourse (5th and Market). Contact the Admissions Department for more information.

Continuing Education

Furthering that idea, the administration has pitched the idea of my presenting a three-day continuing education seminar aimed at adults. This would likely be held over the summer in the evenings. If you’re in the Philly area — and if you’d be interested in attending such a workshop — drop me a line through this site so I can put you on the list to get more information as this gains momentum.

What do you think?

And for the rest of you who aren’t in the Philadelphia region, I’d like to know this: What would you like to get out of a class such as this? Would you prefer to focus on the craft of cartooning? Or would you appreciate a primer on Web-publishing software and other Web-site-related issues? Or would you want to talk about another topic altogether — like social media or business models? It’s only a three-day workshop, so I’d have to focus on only one topic in order to give it the full attention it would deserve.

What are your thoughts?
