Sorry, not Sarahs? KMHCreatives

ComicPress isn’t boilerplate no, I wrote it myself.
And yes, there’s do_action lines that you can add to display content from comic easel
http://comiceasel.com/faqs/reference/action-list/
For example do_action(‘comic-area’); puts on the page the comic with navigate
do_action(‘comic-post-info’); will display the chapter/characters/locations where you place that, etc.

Side Note: Comic Easel can integrate into almost all WordPress themes including responsive ones, so there’s that. Current ComicPress is not 100% html5, about 80% ;/
FrumphParticipantQ1: No advantage, it’s actually more advantageous to have it in the post area of the article. It’s primarily visual in context only.
Q2: It doesn’t use it as classification unless proper google attributes are set to it, in that case it’s again, better to add the transcript to the post.
Note: It was kept where it is as part of the backwards compatibility with users of old ComicPress when google didn’t mind it being as a meta-influenced tag set as it is. However, since then Google has made .. changes that would make it beneficial to you to have it as part of the post.
…and thanks!

FrumphParticipantmy kinda ab(user) !
FrumphParticipantHe’s not using ComicPress, he’s using TwentyFifteen, when using a theme that is not inherently Comic Easel there are extra things that need to be modded in the child theme to get it to the way he wants it.
Your above example is based off him using ComicPress.
So, I just need to have elaborated to me what his end result he wants is so I can help him a bit further.
FrumphParticipantPage layouts have nothing to do with navigation, two sep. things. Find a theme that has that layout; or have a designer make you one – you are not required to use comicpress with comic easel, comic easel can be implemented by code into most all themes – but implementing navigation is done with comic easel; each story would be it’s own chapter, and in the configuration you can have it navigate by chapter only so it will have first-last prev next for that chapter alone, (can be renamed to story/series/whatever in the configuration) – but yeah each designation you create can be it’s own comic.
ala http://thewebcomicfactory.com/ as we do over at that site
FrumphParticipantNo. It’s a landing page, a place where the comic can be bookmarked other then the front page for those people who want it who don’t have their comic on the front page or they have multiple different comics on their site, it basically replaces the /?latest=chapter-slug in the url
FrumphParticipantYou won’t get any updates to anything unless your WordPress is up to date.
There’s a flag in plugins now that says requires version: 4.3 and what not, so in order to get the update you need to have that version of WordPress running
As for ComicPress theme, it’s just a theme, only a theme that works hand in hand default with Comic Easel, and yes if you upgrade you will have some issues to iron out cause there’s new features and sliders that control the width of the site and sidebars etc in the customizer.
FrumphParticipantJust a note to those who might read this in the future.
..probably was #blogheader {} a border-bottom: that shows up on the home page that is a division between comic post and blog post.
You can skin that CSS with an image to say something like “news” or “info” etc. or just #blogheader { display: none; } it to get rid of it.
FrumphParticipantCurious if you guys found the comic -> config -> landing page [tab] yet?
Makes the /chapter/chapter -slug/ into a bookmarkable landing page for that specific chapter

FrumphParticipantfor PHP ver 5.3 and above
if ($post->post_type == 'comic') { if (is_mobile()) { add_filter( 'jetpack_content_width', function(){ return 210; } ); } else { add_filter( 'jetpack_content_width', function(){ return 980; } ); } }
Use return values (210,980) to whatever your comic BIG size is and whatever you want size mobile to see, this will make photon return the exact size you want.

FrumphParticipantI researched this, this has to do with Photon using the $content_width variable in any and whatever theme you’re using, talking with George Stephanis who is on the Jetpack team he’s going to do a bit of digging and see if we can find an override for it.
– Phil
FrumphParticipantthe jetpack ‘like’ button you’re referring to uses the wordpress.com login
FrumphParticipantTo restore:
1) Download 2.9.4 version in zip format from here:
https://wordpress.org/themes/comicpress/developers/2) unzip that locally on your drive
3) FTP into your hosting
4) go to the wp-content/themes/comicpress directory inside your FTP program
5) delete the contents of the wp-content/themes/comicpress directory and all subdirectories
6) FTP the contents of that 2.9.4 zip you made local on your drive into that wp-content/themes/comicpress directory
7) enjoy.
FrumphParticipantWell there ya go!
