Dan WilsonParticipant
How familiar are you with the Mac filesystem? I think I found where palette settings are saved on the Mac, but it might be a little confusing to get there… it’s in a hidden folder.
Dan WilsonParticipantThe Cintiq is now on eBay. If you’d like to bid on it, here’s the link to the auction.
Dan WilsonParticipantI’d also like to see how well the iPad Pro and Pencil works with Astropad. Astropad mirrors the Mac’s screen to the iPad, allowing the iPad to work sort of like a Cintiq. They say the latest update to Astropad does support the Pro and Pencil, but I’d like to know how well the Astropad/iPad Pro/Pencil combo works with Photoshop and MS5.
Dan WilsonParticipantThanks for pointing out that setting in MS5, Clay. I had seen it, but there’s no explanation what the setting does. There’s still some lag, but it’s tolerable unless I’m zoomed out to 25% or more. After completely uninstalling all Wacom driver components and reinstalling the latest driver, I was able to get everything else to work perfectly.
Dan WilsonParticipantHi Andrew,
Check out roaringapps.com. They have a software compatibility chart going back to Snow Leopard.
To answer your question directly, according to roaringapps.com, CS5 is compatible. Of course, YMMV. I’ve run Photoshop and InDesign CS4 successfully under Yosemite, so I’d think CS5 would run too.
Dan WilsonParticipantMike,
I use a WP plugin called Updraft Plus for backing up my site online. It looks like it works the same way that the one Brad mentions in his link above. You just have more flexibility in where you can save the files.
It may also help to set up a development site so you can play around with various plugins and settings without committing anything to your live site. It also serves as a backup of your live site in a pinch. It’s pretty easy to set one up, although you will have to copy your database. If you’d like to try setting it up, let me know. I’ll be glad to walk you through it.
Dan WilsonParticipantSorry Jules. I thought you were using 5. Here’s how you change them for 4EX. Once again, not very intuitive…
Click on the “Print Guide and Basic Frame Layer” in the Layers palette. Right/Control-click on it and select Layer Properties from the drop-down menu (or click on the menu button in the palette toolbar and select Layer Properties). Click the Print Guide tab. You’ll see the units menu near the top.
When I first opened the Layer Properties window, the units menu didn’t accurately reflect the actual ruler units in my test. But once I changed the units, the rulers and menu matched up.

Dan WilsonParticipantTry this: Under the Edit menu, select “Change Canvas Size…” Don’t change anything else besides the unit of measurement. Yeah, it’s not the most intuitive way of doing it, but it works.
Dan WilsonParticipantI second using Filezilla. It’s cross-platform; it’s the same across Mac, Windows and Linux. So if you need help, any Filezilla user should be able to offer assistance regardless of platform.
I’m not sure how it worked for you, Michael, but when I chose the FTP option in Dreamhost, it mounted the FTP directory on my desktop as a network directory. That can be particularly finicky with permissions when you try to delete or move folders. Filezilla will make any FTP work much easier.
Dan WilsonParticipantMichael,
I apologize. Sometimes, when you do something for a long enough time, you forget other people are just learning it.
You say you got into FTP through the Dreamhost backend. In my account, I have two different FTP options: WebFTP and FTP. Which one did you choose? What browser are you using?
Did you happen to create another user in your Dreamhost account… one without administrator access?
Dan WilsonParticipantThe jet pack folder is located in /wp-content/plugins. I would suggest renaming it, refreshing your browser and try reinstalling it.
Sometimes when a WordPress update or upgrade is interrupted, a dot file called “.update” or “.install” will be created in the root folder of your site. It’ll have to be deleted. I don’t think the dot file is causing the issue, but it’s worth a look. You won’t be able to see it by default; you’ll have to tell your ftp app to show invisible files.
